‘Skeeal oikoil?’ dooyrt Juan dy trimshagh. ‘She mish hene honnick eh ny lhie marroo ayns lhiabbee!’
‘Dy jarroo...’ dooyrt Smith dy moal. ‘Cre by vie lhiat shinyn y yannoo, myr shen?’

Remember that the Manx verb system is based on two main parts, the stem or imperative (‘brie!’ = ‘ask!’ here) and the verbal noun (‘briaght’ = ‘asking’ here). If the verb is regular, you can lenite the stem to get the past tense. Or you can use the auxiliary verb ‘jannoo’: ‘..ren Smith briaght dy staydoil’.
