- But Who's the Captain?

As reported in the last Manx column the AGM of Yn Cheshaght Ghailckagh was held at the beginning of this month at Thie ny Gaelgey, St Judes. A picture appeared with the column, supposedly of Chairman, Chris Sheard. Alas it wasn't Chris but Paul Kelly, prominent committee member of Caarjyn ny Gaelgey, who was pictured. Apologies to all those concerned.

More New Words from Coonceil ny Gaelgey

Another feature of the last column was the inclusion of some of the recent work of Coonceil ny Gaelgey (the official body for production of new Manx words and translations). I've had lots of requests to include more of Coonceil ny Gaelgey's new words in the column so who am I to argue with the demanding public. As I mentioned previously I'm the secretary of the Coonceil and, at the risk of becoming repetitive, anyone with a query about Manx or a translation request can get in touch with me on 834844 or at [email protected] and I'll make sure their query is answered as soon as possible.

One of the recent requests the Coonceil received was from the Department of Education which wished to have bilingual signage in its new offices in St George's Court. The signs are now up and very good they look too and here are the translations:
