New writing in Manx
An exciting new initiative has recently been announced by the Manx Heritage Foundation to encourage new writing in Manx Gaelic. A fund has been established to pay for new writing and translation in Manx which it is envisaged will help to create a pool of writers and translaters.
Speaking about the announcement Phil Gawne, yn Greinneyder said - “the scarcity of new material in Manx has been identified as one of the major obstacles to the development and spread of use of Manx, and so it is vital that ways are found to overcome this. I believe that this new approach taken by the Heritage Foundation will help enormously both in encouraging existing writers in Manx to do more, as well as helping new writers to gain confidence and competence in the language.”
100th Anniversary of Birth of Mona Douglas
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mona Douglas’ birth, a party will be held at 7.30pm on Sunday 20th September in Laxey Glen Gardens. There will be a faith supper, and entertainment will be provided by everyone who turns up! All Mona’s friends and acquaintances are invited to come.
