Forthcoming events:

Meeting to discuss the current operation and future expansion of Mooinjer Veggey’s activities.
On Wednesday, 17th June, at St Johns Methodist Church Hall at 8 pm. All parents and others interested in teaching Manx to their children are urged to come and express their views.

Seiy Coshal ChildLine. On Thursday 25th June, 9.30am at Mooinjer Veggey. This pedal push will take place in the garden and all children are welcome to come. Bring your bike, trike pram or tractor and raise money for ChildLine!

Laa Magh er y Cheer. Cathy has organised a trip out to Silverdale on Wednesday 1st July for all Mooinjer Veggey children. Please let Cathy know if your child can come, and if you can come and help.

Tynwald fair and Santan fair. Mooinjer Veggey will have a stall at both of these events. All contributions will be most welcome - see Cathy if you can help in any way!

Teisht Vooinjer Veggey. Certificates in recognition of the excellent progress made by the children in learning Manx. These will be presented at Mooinjer Veggey on Monday, 13th July at 10.30 am by our patron Sir Charles Kerruish to all children who will be leaving Mooinjer Veggey this year.

Yn Chruinnaght. The inter-Celtic festival of music language and dance will be held from 18th - 25th July in Ramsey. The Mooinjer Veggey ceili will be held again on the Friday morning (10.30 am) of that week, but there will be many other events through the week which I’m sure you would all enjoy.

Activities at Mooinjer Veggey

15th - 26th June - The Garden. We will be basing our activities on what we can see in the garden, as well as talking about caterpillars and butterflies and bees making honey. The rhymes and stories we will use during these weeks will be based on this theme.

Important words related to this theme which you might like to use at home are: praddag - caterpillar, foillycan - butterfly, duillag - leaf, getlagh - flying, shellan - bee, blaaghyn - flowers, mill - honey, snaue - crawling, gaase - growing. Ask Cathy for help with pronunciation of these words.

29th June - 10th July - Summer activities. Supporting the garden theme we will be talking about the insects we see and things we do and see in the summer.

Important words will include: deyllag breck - a ladybird, foshil - open, jeigh - shut, crammag - snail, skianyn - wings, barrag-greiney - sun-cream, riojag - an ice cream, snaue - swimming, edd-greiney - sun hat.

13th - 17th July - The sea shore. Our activities will touch on the things we do and find on the sea shore.
