1. Once upon a time there was a commissioner who lived in Ballaugh.
2. He was called James Ballaquark or just J.B. to his friends.
3. He sat on the commissioners' tourism sub committee.
4. One day he had a wonderful idea for the town.
5 Let us create a nudist beach at Ballaugh.
6. The people will rush here and spend a lot of money.
7. The other commissioners all agreed with this.
8. They wrote to Tynwald for permission to start.
9. Phil Kermode thought it would be a good idea.
10. He said so on the radio.
11. Alan Bell was enthusiastic too and so was his tourism department.
12. So J.B. built a new cafe, shop, car park and toilet near the beach.
13. The great day arrived and the flags were flying in Ballaugh.
14. The police were there to keep law and order.
15. It was a fine sunny day and the roads were packed with cars.
16. There were many people ready and willing to take their clothes off.
17. Terry Cringle and a TV crew were there to watch them.
18. J.B. cut the ribbon and declared the beach open.
19. As the nudists ran onto the beach they heard a low rumble.
20. Then suddenly there was an explosion -
21. and a river of sewage flowed over the beach from its pipe.
22. The new toilet had put too much pressure on the old pipe.
23. When the nudists smelt it they ran back to their cars -
24. and drove back to Langness, White Strand and Sulby Glen -
25. where nudists are still to be found today -
26. if you know where to look.
26. They left J.B. covered in embarrassment and sewage as well -
27. for he was chairman of the sewage sub committee.
