R6 Verbs
Overview
As in other Celtic languages, parts of verbs generally come first in a sentence or phrase.
There are no direct words corresponding to Yes and No. Answers are in the affirmative or negative, using parts of verbs in the question.
The only form of the present tense is the continous one (Ta mee goll = I am going -no form like I go)
Colloquial Manx makes a great deal of use of the verb jannoo (doing/making) as an auxiliary, thereby presenting a greatly simplified verb system.
There are two verbs to be. The usage of one of these (the copula) is restricted in modern Manx.
The Verb to be and the Verb to do/make.
Knowledge of these verbs plus the requisite verbal nouns gives one form of mastery of the Manx verb system.
