R8 Other Tenses - Perfect, Past Perfect and Past Conditional
An example of the perfect tense is ‘I have done that’. In Manx, this is expressed as ‘I am after doing that’: Ta mee er nyannoo shen.
Think of er as meaning ‘after’ here. Note that jannoo is nasalised to nyannoo after er. Formally, all verbal nouns were nasalised (see Mutations section) after er, but we have ended up with a mixture of lenition and nasalisation:
T’ou er ve ... - You have been ...(‘You are after being...’)
T’ee er jeet - She has come (‘She is after coming.’) - çheet to jeet.
T’ad er ngoll (TADD-err-NULL)
- They have gone.

Examples of the past perfect tense are:
Va mee er nyannoo shen
- I had done that (‘I was after doing that’.)
Row uss er ngoaill eh? (ROW-uss-err-NOYL-a?) - Had you taken it?
(‘Were you after taking it?’)

And the past conditonal tense:
Veagh oo er chlashtyn eh - You would have heard him.
Veign er ve maynrey - I would have been happy.
