R9 The Passive Tense
In English, this is things like ‘It is done’, ‘The letter has been written’. There are three ways of expressing this in Manx:

Method 1: T’eh dooint - It is shut. (Use of past participle)
Method 2: T’eh er ny screeu - It has been written (‘It is after its writing’.)
Method 3: T’eh goll er dooney - It is being shut (‘It is going on shutting’.)

Strictly, Method 1 should be confined to situations where a state (not an action) is involved. T’eh dooint implies a state of being shut.
No mutations of verbal nouns take place for Method 3

Note these other examples:
Ta’n baatey er ny choayl - The boat has been lost (Lenition of coayl)
Ta ny baatyn er nyn goayl - The boats have been lost (Nasalisation )
V’eh er ny choayl - He had been lost (‘He was after his losing’.)

Hie eh er coayl - It was lost (‘It went on losing’.)
Hed eh er coayl - It will be lost (‘It will go on losing’.)
